Thanks so much for putting together a great "yearbook" of the past reunion gathering.  It was great seeing familiar faces ( maybe with a gray hair or two ). It was sad to see so many familiar names on the In Memory page - but we were a sturdy bunch.  Many of us are still going strong - After all there were some 900 people in the graduating class, I think.  Again, thank you for sharing this with those of us who were unable to attend.

Comments.........A group of classmates, including Pauline Massey Hendricks, Tom Hendricks, Linda Winfrey Murphy, Bill Manning, Mike Malone, Fred Rosenberg, Jerry Heltzel, Carole Langstaff, Karen Begley Rose, Paul Nuccio, Don Hartley, Shirley Penny Hartley, and yours truly went to Glendale High School to excavate the \"1960 Plaque.\" The hope was that the Time Capsule was still there post relocation as a result of the 1964 fire. Alas, it was not located underneath but the school provided an interesting and educational experience for all in attendance. Pictures will be posted on the website of the event. Our daughters are Joan Laurel Baldridge and Julie Anna Baldridge, who remain single. We built a cabin with logs cut on our property, and then a 2-story house with 12\" insulation. We carried materials to the building site, and friends helped move the roof trusses.

Rick Marshall was one of the all around good guys. I had him in several classes, a very egalitarian individual even though he had lettered and I believe was an ORB and a scholar; he never let it get between his non-athletic friends such as me, respected by all. I still remember talks he and I had in our senior year. He stopped in to see my mom several years after graduation and I mom always talked about how what a "fine young man" he was and how she enjoyed his visit. My sincere condolences to his wife.

Well, most of you and I are either 70 already or going to be this year. For some reason that I don't understand, this birthday is a hard one for me. But on June 18, like it or not, I will turn 70. I know, I know, I should think about all of our classmates that didn't make it this far, and just be grateful for being alive. Well, I'm working on that. I've had several major medical challenges starting in Nov. of 2010 and continuing today. I'm not going to go into the boring details, but suffice it to say, currently, I'm on crutches and when I get off of these, I will go to a cane inside and a walker outside. But, I will keep on trucking because I ascribe to "Maxine's" philosophy, which states "Any day you wake up on this side of the flower bed is a good day!" I hope everyone who reads this is happy and being productive. Last word: keep your loved ones close to you, tell them you love them--often, because they can be taken in a blink of an eye. It never ceases to amaze me how fast time flies. I remember no cell phones, no computers, no facebook or twitter cable TV or any of that stuff, and how we got along without it. lol!
We must remember, that relationships with our close friends are precious in these days. It is hard to believe how quickly time zips by. I was saddened to see the number of our classmates that have passed on. I, of course, recognized all of them and some were very good friends back in high school.
Joanie and I just had our 37th wedding anniv. Kids are grown and gone. We see the grandkids whenever possible since they live in another state. I am a semi-retired engineer, we are Christians, and life is good here in the northwest.

I and my wife (Lyvonne) are looking forward to attending the reunion and cruise in May. We are travelling from Michigan by train which should be quite an adventure in itself. After graduation, I lived and worked in California for 2 years. I married my late wife (Barbara) and returned with her to her home State of Michigan where I have worked and resided since then. I am retired from General Motors. I was married for 29 years and then widowed for 4 years until I met my current wife and remarried in 1997. We currently live in a small resort town on Saginaw Bay. I am excited about a 50-year reunion! It will be great to see everyone after all these years. I actually went to the 20-year reunion, and it was great! My only comment right now would be to hold it at a hotel by the beach!

I am posting again, because I hadn't read the other comments the first time I posted. I think the idea of having it in Glendale would be great. I also liked the idea of having it on the GHS campus in a huge tent or something. I would not want to do a cruise, but as some have suggested, maybe plan a cruise after the main event for those who do want to cruise. I have only been to one reunion, the 20th, and we were all a lot younger then. It was a lot of fun, but I think this reunion should be more informal and low key. I think everyone would love lots of music from the 50s, and just sharing memories of the "good old days" with everyone. I favor having the reunion in the Glendale area. If you haven't visited Glendale lately, plan on a day of walking in your old haunts. I recently walked the downtown area (Brand Blvd.) and found it recognizable. Most of the stores have changed hands but the buildings are still there, and most of the theaters have been replaced, but there was still plenty left to bring back fond memories. The Alex Theater is still in operation but as a live theater. The facilities at the high school have changed a lot, but you will probably still recognize it. I took time to walk around the two neighborhoods I lived in and was surprised to find them relatively unchanged. Both houses are still there and well kept.

I really enjoyed the 40th reunion and am looking forward to the 50th. Anywhere in Southern Cal would be great place to meet. How about a reunion plus cruise? Those that can't take a cruise, for health or financial reasons, could still enjoy a reunion. Those that want to "party on" can jump abord the ship and sail on. Someone or a committee would have to set up the reunion but I'm sure any cruise line would be more than happy to make the arrangements for those who would like to go to sea. Hope we have a great turn-out, like we had in 2000. Like most of us, I'm starting my diet tomorrow! Hope to see everyone there, the Good Lord willing.

Cruise sounds great. So does a week at the Marks Mansion. From my experience organizing four GHS 60 reunions, I know that most of our classmates are just looking for a chance to see and chat with as many of the others as possible. Location and entertainment are secondary. I also think the chosen venue should be as convenient as possible for those making the longest (and most expensive) journeys, and should allow all classmates a chance to attend for at least one day/night. Combining a cruise with a pre-cruise hotel party, even if informal, would achieve both goals.

Whatever choices are made, I'll be there. So will most of those who have been the most enthusiastic supporters of our past reunions. And that is what makes them so great.
